DESCRIPTION:Why care for the bush \nAs people spread out across the landscape\, we lose habitat for our native species. Plants have to compete with introduced species. This extensive wetland is only 1% of the Perth metro area reserves but is home to 70% of Perth’s floral species. Some are small or hard to find. A lot of them were burned recently. There is a lot to learn about this reserve. \nWe at the Urban Bushland Council are concerned about the loss of our natural species. We aim to encourage you to join in with efforts to care for nature in the bush and extend bush habitat. \nTo start\, we invite you to a free workshop to share stories about our bush\, share uncertainties\, talk about volunteering\, and meet nearby neighbours. \nGreen Edge Pinkgill Fungi. Dhakal.\nPerhaps you will be enthused to plant native species in your garden. \nPerhaps you will join a group of volunteers who help to rehabilitate a reserve somewhere … or one of the many other ways you can join in. \nYou will meet people from a range of community associations as well as local indigenous leaders\, community environmental groups and experts with local and scientific knowledge. \nYou will also join a guided walk so we can show you the amazing biodiversity of our local bush. \nJoin us\nSunday September 27\, 2026 at at Connect@Kenwick\, sometimes called the Mud Hut\, at 84 Brixton Street\, Kenwick from 10 am. Refreshments will be provided.
