DESCRIPTION:One Stepping Stone at a Time\nWildlife\, biodiversity\, nature nearby is important to us \nA free event at Scitech with Dr. Jane Chambers\, how connecting people and nature through urban greening can improve the quality of life for all species in Perth. \nOUR SPEAKERS\nKeynote: Dr Jane Chambers \nDirector of NatureLink Perth and Senior Lecturer in Environmental and Conservation Sciences at Murdoch University. Be inspired by Dr Jane Chambers\, as she shares a vision of Perth and Peel as a green city connected to nature\, promoting our health and wellbeing while sustaining our globally significant biodiversity….and most importantly – how we are going get there and how you can be part of it. Creating multifunctional greenspaces\, using a science-based approach to ensure urban greening promotes ecological connectivity\, function and services and giving us all a sense of place. Learn how you can help wildlife move safely between fragmented remnant bushland through naturelinks and stepping stone habitat plantings. Every bit we do makes a difference! \nSpeaker: Dr Matthew Adams \nDirector Global Data Interoperability and Integrity at Geoscience Australia. · Experienced leader with nearly 30 years in the spatial/imagery industry. Matthew will take us on a tour of the Department of Planning Lands and Heritage’s (DPLH) CanopyDashboard \nSpeaker: Sue Conlan \nLongstanding volunteer for both Urban Bushland Council and Friends of Mosman Park Bushland. Formerly a medical scientist\, Sue now practices full time in preventative medicine and assists community to restore their local bushland. Sue will explain how you can be part of the Perth’s Urban Greening strategy by applying for a Let’s Grow Grant\, available through DPLH to create pockets of local vegetation around schools\, sports ovals\, public buildings\, verges and any available local  spaces in your community to create habitat for local wildlife\, cool our suburbs and encourage active transport. \nTeam up with a community group\, school\, Local Government and a volunteer bushcare group to Green your suburb. \nJane Chambers\, Naturelink Perth\nMatthew Adams Geoscience Australia\nSue Conlan\, UBC\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nJoin us at Scitech\nWe are holding this event at Scitech in the Chevron Science Theatre. There is excellent public transport: Scitech is on the north side of the City West Train Station.  Enter the City West Centre from Plaistowe Mews. There is also paid parking below Scitech.  As a visitor to Scitech you can access a $5 for 5 hours parking ticket via parking machines located inside (ie upstairs) at the City West Centre. Just remember to make a note of your licence plate number. Light refreshments will be available from 6 pm and the presentations will commence at 6:30 pm. \nThank you to Scitech for making the Chevron Science Theatre available to the Urban Bushland Council for this very important theme of urban greening.
